Patina Miller
Miller played the leading role in Stephen Schwartz's 1972 Broadway production of "Pippin". It was the Tony Award winning director Diane Paulus directed "Pippin" that also was starring Matthew James Thomas and Andrea Martin. Terrence Mann and Matthew James Thomas were the others in the cast. Patina transformed the role Ben Vereen's character, who is a Tony Award-winning actor. She also masterfully mastered the movement of Fosse that is so essential to the musical. Patina's performance earned her a Tony Award in the category of Best Actress, Leading Role Musical. The Outer Critics Circle Award was awarded to her for Outstanding Actress. In December 2012 through January 2013, she played the role of the Lead Player in the American Repertory Theater's production Pippin. Miller made her Broadway debut in the 2011 Broadway season as the gutsy nightclub-singer-turned-nun "Deloris Van Cartier" in the stage adaptation of "Sister Act", which earned her first Tony nomination, as well as Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for her performance.
